Preparations are under way at the Church of Scientology’s UK headquarters ahead of the annual gathering of their membership body, the International Association of Scientologists (IAS).
The annual IAS event is set to take place on the weekend of October 23rd – 25th and marks the fourth consecutive year the gathering has been held at Saint Hill, near East Grinstead.

A protest is expected to take place across the weekend after Scientology’s application for a Public Spaces Protection Order to ban such demonstrations was denied by Mid-Sussex District Council, costing the local tax payer £84,000.
This year’s event, propaganda published by the Church shows, will include fire breathers, “IAS Knights” and of course, bagpipers.
Last year, local residents complained about the “chaos” and “disruption” Scientology’s annual event brings to the otherwise peaceful, quiet countryside town of East Grinstead. Among their complaints were the repetitive bagpipe music played on loudspeakers at the entrance to their property, aimed at drowning out chants from protestors.
