This website is under attack: Scientology vs Scientology Business

The Church of Scientology have launched a full-scale attack on this blog and submitted numerous complaints to our hosting provider in an attempt to get the website suspended.

The complaints centre around an article published in July 2024, which shares the names and photographs of Scientology’s biggest UK Ideal Org donors. The list was previously published by the Church of Scientology and sent to parishioners (and Scientology Business) before it was shared on this blog.

According to our hosting provider, “details of the complaints relate to the use of several names and photos at the URL below in reference to providing donations without consent.” The email continued with a threat that our provider would “suspend hosting services for the domain in question” if the article was not removed within 48 hours.

If no consent has been obtained by the persons mentioned to publish such information or the accompanying photos then we would deem this a potential privacy and copyright issue which would also be in breach of Fasthosts Acceptable Use Policy.

Under the circumstances presented above, we would appreciate it if you could kindly respond to this notification within the next 48 hours confirming that the URL in question has been disabled.

If we do not receive a response within the specified timeframe or the content remains active then we may be required to take action to suspend hosting services to the domain in question.

We appreciate your co-operation in this matter and look forward to your response.

Kind regards,

Email sent to Scientology Business by hosting provider after receiving Scientology complaints.

The information in the article was already publicly accessible after it was published by the Church of Scientology, and was shared on our blog as there is a clear, legitimate public interest in the controversial organisation’s UK and European activities – and those who are funding it.

We have responded appropriately.

Defending free speech, independent journalism and fighting for justice are baked into our DNA and form the very foundations on which this blog was built. If this website disappears in the next 48 hours, please rest assured we will fight for its return and we will not be intimidated by Scientology’s bid to silence us.
